Estefania Ortiz is a screenwriter and director.

Her stories always stem from personal experiences, with a focus on childhood, memory, and family.

Estefania holds a degree in Communication and Cultural Industries from the University of Barcelona and two master’s degrees in cinema: one in Directing and Staging from ECIB and another in Contemporary Cinema and Audiovisual Studies from the Pompeu Fabra University.

Her latest project, Demà, has received over 30 international selections, including the Oscar-qualifying Indy Shorts Festival, and has been nominated for the European Children’s Film Awards, organized by ECFA, held at the Berlinale 2025.

Recently, it won the NETFLIX-sponsored Award for Best Short Film dedicated to promoting values of social inclusion and diversity.

The project has received support from ICEC and ICAA.

She is currently working on her first feature film, Goodbye, Anne, with a focus on co-production with the Netherlands.

Estefania Ortiz is also the creator and host of the cinema podcast En versión original, available on Spotify.

She has contributed articles to digital media outlets like Caméra-stylo and Miradas de Cine.

In 2023, together with director of photography Yoel Smit, she was the driving force behind the event ECIB Welcomes Roger Deakins in Barcelona.
